Prospecting Futures Online is a sociological research project that uses online discussion (social media, blogs, fan sites) and reading groups to explore how science fiction readers engage with social and science futures online. You can find full details about our project via an information sheet here.
I’m Miranda Iossifidis, a social researcher at Newcastle University. I’d like to observe the everyday interactions and discussions in your online reading groups from July to December 2018, focusing on members’ posts.
Transcriptions will be kept safe and confidential using password protected software in accordance with the EU GDPR 2018. Participation is voluntary, and participants may refuse to take part in the research or exit at any time. If you choose to provide your email address, you will be contacted to see if you are interested in participating in an additional interview.
No names or identifying information will be included in publications or presentations based on these data, unless you would like your real username used (please state this in the comments section).
I’ll provide participants with a summary of each month’s activities, and summary of emerging findings via a password protected webpage. I will share details of forthcoming publications and major presentations, as well as details of plans for archiving project materials.
